Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord Who Heals

Daily Verse: “He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.’”

Let's Talk About It: Because the name Jehovah has been explained in previous posts, I will not dive deeper into it. Instead, I will only remind you that it is one of the most commonly used variations of God’s true name. Rapha (raw-faw), according to the Hebrew Strong’s Dictionary, is defined as to mend (by stitching), i.e. (figuratively) to cure: - cure, (cause to) heal, physician, repair, thoroughly, make whole. WOW!

God is telling His people that He IS their physician. That may not seem much to some; however, it is saying A LOT! God is actual saying that He is the one they can go to for healing and is THEIR healer. Just going a little past the surface of this, we can conclude that if we have pain, sickness, or hurt of any kind, the healing comes from Him.

Now some skeptics may say, “well a doctor heals people every day.” Though this may be true on the surface level; however, if you actually go deeper, you will realize that it is God, working through the doctor, to heal. The Holy Spirit gives a doctor the strength, wisdom, and provisions, to heal someone. And going even further, it is His will that also allows the provisions to work.

There are many testimonies from patients and doctors where the complete healing of someone could not be medically explained. Some doctors even admit that they gave patients the terrible, imminent, death timetable and said there was nothing they could do to help, heal, or cure them; yet the patient was completely healed with no traces of how it happened. In those situations, I believe God set out to show who is really in charge and who the true healer is, as well as to establish a strong faith in him or her that was not present during the situation.

You may ask why do I believe this. It’s because I have one of those testimonies. When I was admitted into the VA hospital in April 2018, it was bad. Not going into great detail so this post will not be pages long, let’s just say that my condition was very rare. I had a team of doctors, each specializing in a different field. They even asked if some UCF medical students could come into my room and have a look. I also overheard the doctors saying they don’t know what to do and did not think I would make it.

Everything they tried to “fix” resulted in another problem affecting a different part of my body, and when they tried to “fix” it, it would cause another issue somewhere else and make the current issues worse. As you can imagine, hearing and seeing the doctors’ frustration along with me getting worse, I sadly admit that my faith was crumbling.

Then, the Lord spoke to Crystal, and she prophesied to me and reminded me that I need to trust in Him and have FAITH. So, I cried out with a repentant heart and reaffirmed my trust and faith in Him. Not only was I healed like God told Crystal I would be, I also was discharged on the exact day that He told her I would be. Talk about faith building!
