💛 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "In Jesus Name" by Israel & New Breed. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
🧡 Daily Verse: Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
☆ Galatians 6:2-3 NLT
💙 Let's Talk About It: Pride is sneaky. Beyond the surface of every obstacle we face, pride looms and lingers. It is, I believe, the root to every problem.
If we live our life by this verse, it would be very difficult to become prideful. Sharing in the burdens of others is not easy. It takes effort.
Here, Paul is reminding the Galatians, and us, that we are not more important than anyone else. In addition to that, he reminds us that we are to help one another. But even moreso than that, we are to share in one another's burdens.
I can't read this verse and not think of the moment, in the Garden of Gethsemane, how Jesus was asking His closest companions to pray with Him. When He returned, He found them sleeping. Sharing in someone's burden means praying and interceding for them.
It means taking it upon yourself to petition heaven on their behalf. As I like to call it, it means stepping into the spiritual battle.
See, when darkness surrounds those we know, and even those we don't, we as children of God, can use our weapons to extinguish that darkness, pushing it back by the authority we've been given in Christ.
As the song today says, "God is fighting for us, God is on our side. We will overcome, yes, we will overcome."
The truth is, sharing in someone's burdens may mean introducing them to Jesus, or it may mean offering a meal or place to stay, or it could even mean interceding on their behalf. Nevertheless, the point is clear, their needs should supercede ours.
Because if we want to love people the way Jesus loves us, we need to love them more than we love ourselves. ❤
💜 Prayer: Father God, I am so grateful for You and for the Word that teaches me and directs my steps. Lord, I thank You for dismantling EVERY ounce of pride in my heart. Lord, I want to be Your hands and feet. Help me to love others more than myself and carry the burdens of others. Jesus, I thank You for Your sacrifice for without it, I would most certainly be lost. I thank You God, for all Your provision, protection, love and mercy. May Your will be done, Lord, in Jesus name, amen.
