🧡 Daily Verse: Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
☆ Colossians 3:2‭ NLT

💜 Let's Talk About It: Paul makes it a point to tell the church of Colossae to think about heavenly things and not the things of this world. This is because he knows that what we focus on is what takes up residence in our mind, and that which takes up residence in our mind will be what we act upon.

So, if your thinking about how bad your job stinks, your mind will convince you to quit. Whereas if you look upon your job as an assignment to shine the light of Christ and love those people around you without judgement, all while receiving what you need to pay your bills, then you will probably be appreciative of that job and the opportunity is affords you to be a vessel used by God.

Coveting the things of this world, and even being preoccupied with them, hinders our walk with God. Again, that which we are focused on we will do. So, if our minds and hearts are focused on heaven, we will be able to hear the Holy Spirit and follow His leading. If our minds and hearts are not, then we will not.

James calls this double mindedness. He explains that we cannot have one foot in the world and one foot in heavenly places. As Joshua states, we must choose this day whom we will serve. And thinking about the things of heaven keeps our hearts and minds aligned to God. Anything short of that, my friend, is sin.

💚 Prayer: Lord, I thank You that when my attention is on You, I can focus on what matters, You, Your Gospel, and the eternity with You that awaits me. Thank You Lord for reminding me that I am to let go of all my worldly desires. Holy Spirit, please remind me if my eyes or thoughts behin to look upon this world for affirmation, a resolution, or anything else that only You, Lord, can do. My God, I am so grateful for each and every blessing You have given me. Please help me to be single-minded and do away with all double-mindedness. Lord Jesus, I love You and pray all these things in Your mighty name, amen.
