💙 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "I Lift My Hands" by Chris Tomlin. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!

Daily Verse: Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children.
☆ Proverbs 14:26 NLT

🧡 Let's Talk About It: God is our refuge (Psalm 46:1) and our fear of Him brings us security.

This is not the same as the fear we sometimes face in our day to day lives. This type of fear is a reverence, honor, or sense of awe of God.

In order to fully grasp this, I believe it is important to provide a few definitions, so here goes...

Reverence: having a deep respect for someone or something

Honor: high respect; doing what is right or up to standard

Sense of awe: a feeling we get when we are in the presence of something or someone who is both vast and challenges our understanding of the world.

I don't know about you but when I look at these definitions, it makes sense why the author of Proverbs and many other authors in the Bible stress the importance of having a fear of the Lord.

It encompasses all the characteristics we should have when we walk in relationship to Him; respecting God, walking in obedience and doing as He wishes, while challenging ourselves to break free from mindsets that set us back or send us further from His presence.

So, friend, what area is God challenging you in this season? How can drawing closer to God help you find security and break free from that which is holding you back?

💜 Prayer: My God, thank You for all You do day-in and day-out for me and my family. Lord, thank You for teaching me that fear of You is where true knowledge begins. Lord, everything You do is great because You are a great God. I pray Lord that You continue to guide my steps and teach me how to let go of control and fully surrender to You. You are all I need. And You are all I want. I love You and pray Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus mighty name I pray, amen.
