💛 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "10,000 Reasons" by Matt Redman. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
💜 Daily Verse: Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
☆ Psalms 37:4 NLT
❤ Let's Talk About It: This entire psalm (37) focuses on God taking care of His people. It reassures the believer that if we stay faithful to Him, He will be faithful to us.
Many people believe today's verse to mean that if we do what God wants, He will give us what we want. However, that's not exactly what it means.
The truth is, if we delight in the Lord, our heart's desires become His desires and in turn, walking in His will changes the desires of our heart. Our desires become God's desires.
As we say no to ourselves and yes to Jesus, we are conformed to Him, not just in what we do, but how we think and even see the world around us.
THEN, He gives us the desires of our heart.
If you are pretty familiar with scripture, you'll remember Jeremiah exclaiming the heart as the most deceitful of all things (Jer. 17:9).
It is a blessing that even our desires are transformed, only then can we fulfill the Great Commission and make Jesus famous (rather than ourselves)!
Seek to serve God wholeheartedly & He will give you the desires of your heart. How can you serve the Lord in your day-to-day life today?
💚 Prayer: Father God, thank you for being greater and stronger than I can ever imagine. Thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit to guide me, comfort me, correct me, and turn this heart of stone to a heart of flesh. Thank you Lord Jesus, for teaching me how to pray, and for giving me, and everyone else, your perfect example to follow. Forgive me Lord, that I fall short. Help me to conform to your ways and to place love for others above my love for self. Thank you, Lord, for giving me the desires of my heart and for blessing me beyond measure. I love you Lord, and give you all the praise! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
