💜 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "The Father's House" by Cory Asbury. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!Â
💙 Daily Verse: I will give them—within the walls of my house— a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. It will never disappear!
☆ Isaiah 56:5 NLT
💚 Let's Talk About It: What a beautiful promise! Firstly, a memorial doesn't sound like a big deal, but when we understand covenant, we understand that a memorial was a big deal! It essentially testified to the fact that a covenant had been made.
Therefore, when we take this into account, we understand the depths and lengths God is willing to go to in order for us to understand who we are in Him and what we have been called to be. Not only that, we have something that we can look upon to remember who God is and what He has done for us.
This promise of God assures us that if we serve Him, there will be a memorial created in Heaven for us and that we will be given a new name.
I have often wondered what God calls me. I have a pet name for my son, so why wouldn't God have pet names for us? I think they are heavenly names we couldn't recognize if we wanted to. Names that carry more in their meaning than we realize.
In fact, when I was encouraged to look up my name in Hebrew I found out that the word for crystal in Revelation 4:6, 21:11, and 22:1 all refer to, as Easton's Bible dictionary suggests, "a stone of the flint order, the most refined kind of quartz."
I am not an outdoorsy type. I couldn't tell you what it takes to start a fire, but my hubby Kevin could rub two sticks together and make one, for sure. When I explained what I read, he explained that a flint rock is what was used to start fire back then. Then, in such a gentle voice, I heard the Holy Spirit, "you are my fire starter. You take my fire with you wherever you go. You are refined, and you have the ability to ignite those around you."
Wow! That's how God sees me?! What a revelation! Can I tell you a secret? God has a beautiful story about YOUR name to share with you, too. And don't forget, it's more than merely a name. It's a memorial of the New Covenant you get to share in because of the blood of Jesus.
💛 Prayer: Dear God, I thank You for each and every promise You have given us. I am so thankful for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for gentle correction and for removing all sin, shame, and guilt from my life by the blood of Jesus. Thank You for reminding me of who I am in You and to You. You are a Good Good Father. Jesus, thank You for leading me and being an example of love. I give You all the praise forever, amen
