Daily Devotional ~ Love Like Jesus

Heart - Daily Devotional ~ Love Like Jesus

Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "Fierce" by Jesus Culture.

Daily Verse: We love each other because he loved us first.
☆ 1 John 4:19 NLT

Let's Talk About It: I don't know about you, but this social distancing is really becoming more of a challenge than I would necessarily like. As a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom before Covid-19, there were only a few times a week we left the house in the first place.

Kevin and Fabs would go to the skateboard park 2-3 times a week just to give me some alone time. And I would window shop if I actually wanted to get out of the house and do something. Let's not forget the one day a week we would all go out and do something as a family. That usually consisted of a visit to some local spring for some sunshine (vitamin D) and swimming.

In my frustration earlier today, God reminded me He didn't put me here to be comfortable. While He enjoys it when we're enjoying life, that is not my purpose-doing what pleases myself.

So, I pulled up my big girl pants, stood up, and walked out of that pity party I was throwing for myself. As I did, I remembered what we were REALLY created for. Do you know what that is? We're all created for the same purpose...to love another...and love God.

We may not all go about that in the same way, but the purpose for us all remains the same...L.O.V.E.

If you can, and you are able, please do something kind for someone today. I know it may look different, loving on people today than it did just a few weeks ago, but this social distancing doesn't have to stop us from doing what we were created to do. It's up to us to love like Jesus. Will you today?

Additional Reading: And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
☆1 John 4:17 NLT

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for not allowing me to sit in my weaknesses. Lord, you provided the perfect sacrifice, your son, so that I could remember He is what strengthens me. Jesus, your power is made perfect in my weakness and I thank you for that now more than ever, Lord, because I do feel weak. In all honesty, I wish this could all be over, however, I know that you are still enacting your will and purpose even now Lord. Help me to keep my eyes focused on you Jesus, so that I can continue to love others like you would. Show me, Christ Jesus, how I can better serve others. Equip me Lord, and help me be your hands and feet today and everyday Lord. I love you Jesus and in your mighty name I pray, amen.
