💛 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "I Surrender" by Hillsong Worship. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
💚 Daily Verse: Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there.
☆ Acts of the Apostles 16:7 NLT
💙 Let's Talk About It: As I shared a bit about the personhood of the Holy Spirit yesterday, I really want to focus on it today. We can see from today's verse that the Holy Spirit directs the follower of Christ.
Have you ever wanted to go somewhere and you just find it impossible to get there? I'm sure Paul and Silas can relate. The verse above shows how the Holy Spirit leads us and governs our path. It conveys how closely we follow His will as believers.
The Spirit of God has personal characteristics. He has a will, for it is God's will because it is God's Spirit.
He has emotions. As we can see in Ephesians 4:30, we can grieve the Holy Spirit. This usually happens when we continue to live like the world even after knowing the truth.
This type of behavior (one foot in the world and one foot out) is double-mindedness. And the Holy Spirit is not ok with this. It grieves Him because He doesn't like to be around sin.
It's so important also to understand that the Spirit of God is how people are born again. The new birth we undergo is a birth of the Spirit. This is clearly seen in John 3:8.
As we look at the person today, I encourage you to start thinking about the divinity of the Holy Spirit. How many aspects of our walk do you think the Holy Spirit is responsible for?
It is my hope by the end of this month, you will understand exactly what the Holy Spirit is responsible for and the amazing work He does day in and day out in the life of the follower of Christ.
❤ Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your faithfulness. I am so grateful You never leave my side. I love learning more about You each day, Father, and I pray that You would continue to pour into me so I can pour into others. Lord, as we venture closer to the day we celebrate Your Resurrection, I pray that Your precious Holy Spirit would flood every home of every street in every city of every state in every country all over this beautiful planet You've given us. Lord, I love You and I thank You for the gifts You've given me. Help me to recognize the work of the Holy Spirit more readily in my life. I want to know You more, God. I give You all the praise Jesus, and in Your mighty name I pray, amen.
