💙 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "New Today" by Micah Tyler. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
💛 Daily Verse: But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
☆ 1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT
💚 Let's Talk About It: As human beings, though we are made in the image of God, we have a moral inability to understand things of the Spirit. This is because of sin and goes back to the Garden of Eden.
Paul explains in Romans 8:7-8 that the flesh and mind are hostile to God. He explains that without the Holy Spirit, we are unable to submit to God's law (meaning His ways). He further explains that those who are not living in the Spirit, but are living in the flesh cannot please God.
Let that sink for a minute. Without the action of the Holy Spirit, we would not even be able to understand the Gospel message in order to respond. So because God is so gracious, He sends His Holy Spirit to prepare the soil for the seed.
It is only because of the grace of God that any of us are saved, friends. Jesus Himself said that no one can come to Him unless the Father who sent Him draws us (John 6:44-45).
No matter what your theological stance on soteriology (the study of the doctrine of salvation), we can all agree that it is because of God's immense love that each and every one of us have the ability to come before the throne of grace boldly.
His mercies are new each day and He is calling out to YOU, today, friend.
💜 Prayer: Dear Lord, I am so grateful for You and for Your mercy and grace. I am thankful that Your mercies are new each day and I am thankful that you have given me such a deep and profound understanding of who You are through Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me. Thank you for the gift of grace. Help me to witness of Your love and mercy to others, and help me to subdue my flesh and walk and live in the Spirit. I want to do Your will God, but I need Your strength. I cannot do it without You. Please help me Jesus, be who You created me to be, and in Your mighty name I pray, amen.
