Daily Devotional - Injustice Harvests Disaster

💙 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "Springtime" by Chris Renzema. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!

Daily Verse: Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end.
☆ Proverbs 22:8 NLT

💛 Let's Talk About It: One doesn't need to look far in this world to see injustice operating on a grand scale.

I usually do not take the opportunity this platform affords me to speak from my soapbox. Sure, I'll share my testimony, and what God has taught me, but I try very hard not to express opinions and only provide wisdom inspired by the Holy Spirit.

With that being said, I cannot keep quiet as I see a people so outraged by violence and injustice that they have decided to place themselves higher than God and take to the streets in violent protest to defend their cause.

God is the defender of justice. He is the ultimate judge. And nothing, and I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will stop Him from punishing those who deserve such punishment.

While we ALL need to speak out about the blatant amount of crime committed by officers towards people of color, we need to be sure we do so with deliberate rhetoric and accuracy. We need to dismiss superlatives and have a real conversation for what it's like for so many in the African American community.

In case you've been living under a rock, there is still a racial divide in America. While it has come a long way (my husband and I would not have legally been able to be together just 60 years ago), we still have SO FAR to go. This is evident in the death of #georgefloyd.

I cannot pretend to know what it's like for a black man in America, but I do see and have seen what it's been like for my husband. I have heard the stories. I have even encountered it with him when as a family, we are met with disdain.

I want to remind those who are boiling with anger...it is ok to be angry, just don't allow that to be the excuse you use to sin. Whatever you wish you could do, those officers probably deserve it. But what does that solve? Someone has to be the bigger man. Who will it be?

As I spend today praying for our country, I want to remind you that Jesus didn't die for this. He didn't die so that we could segregate ourselves. He didn't die so that some men with power could abuse it. He didn't die so that we would hate each other. He died to give us grace.

I know it's not easy, and I'm not telling you to let it go, but will you give it to God? Will you pray and let His will be done concerning this? Will you forgive? Will you show these people the mercy that they should have shown George?

They obviously have not seen love in real form, otherwise they would not have been able to treat another human being like that. We aren't born hating. That is learned. Finally, let's give the judgement back to God. Let's let Him deal with these men, and may He have mercy on their souls.

Let God's love win...and shine brighter than the sun. It's the ONLY thing that can vanquish hate!

🧡 Additional Reading: “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.
☆ Matthew 5:43‭-‬47 NLT

💜 Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for today. I know You are good and You reign Lord. I know that it is never Your will for people to hate and take advantage of others, but Lord I am troubled; my heart, my spirit my soul...all troubled by this world. It seems as if Your light and love has been lost. It seems like hope is lost. Lord Jesus, I know this is not the case, but none the less, I am sickened with injustice. My belly aches and nausea overtakes me when I think about the blatant disregard for life, and Lord, you know this is not a racial issue. No, as with all things, this is a sin issue. Father, please come to our rescue. Save us from ourselves. Lord, rise up a man or woman who is willing to lay it all on the line to speak out against those who target people based on skin color. Father, help us. Jesus, we need you. This world needs you and your love. I pray your love would reign down on us like we have never seen before. Lord, the whole world stopped at your word. I pray that just as the whole world stood still and held its breath, I pray you would loose your Holy Spirit like we have never seen before. I pray hearts would be free from hate and healed. I pray animosity cease and restitution begin. I pray, God that YOUR will be done. I pray that your breath fill our lungs and give us strength to speak out against injustice and racial disparity. I love you Jesus and in your name I pray, amen.
