Chicken - Daily Devotional - The Door is Open

๐Ÿ’› Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "Dead Man Walking" by Jeremy Camp. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!

๐Ÿ’™ Daily Verse: Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
โ˜† John 10:9 NLT

๐Ÿงก Let's Talk About It: Last night there was a torrential downpour which included hail and very high winds. It started about 8:15 so there was no way for us to see what was happening except when the powerful electricity lit up the night sky.

This morning, as I was praying about what the Lord wanted me to speak when my hubby came in from checking the chickens to find that the door to their pen was completely open, but only two of them had left the pen, the alpha hen and the one that's always been the most scared.

It reminded me of something my hubby and I were discussing earlier this week. I mentioned to him, "every one of us humans is sitting in a jail cell with an open door before we know Jesus. The door is opened due to what He did on the Cross, however, many of us are so comfortable in our current life, we choose to stay in bondage instead of walking out of the prison upon hearing the Gospel. We carry the victim mentality, or the shame of our actions, or the guilt for not keeping our word. Whatever the case may be, there are many, MANY people, Christian's included, who are sitting in jail cells due to their own choice or due to the fact they haven't chosen to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

I was amazed to see my chickens behaving the same way this morning. They were granted total freedom for nearly 12 hours and only two of them were willing to leave the safety of their place of protection; and neither ventured more than a foot from it.

It leads me to ask you, dear friend, why haven't you decided to get up and follow Jesus out of your cell? You better believe He knows the way! Is it due to fears of the unknown? Do you think you have to change who you are?

God writes the greatest adventures (just read the Bible, you'll see), so there is nothing to fear when it comes to the unknown. Anything He has for us is better than we could dream up ourselves, so we shouldn't walk in fear of the unknown (easier said than done, I know).

When it comes to changing who we are, the Holy Spirit is responsible for the changes and it happens naturally when we walk in obedience and try to avoid sinning as much as possible (because we want to not because we're told to). It is imperative we form a relationship through the reading of The Word, prayer, and worship because that's how we learn to hear God's voice and walk in His ways.

What are you waiting for? Are you ready to truly walk with Christ? Then, stand up and walk out of that jail cell my friend, but only after you've decided to follow Jesus and make Him Lord of your Life. It just doesn't seem to work if we try walking out with religion, worldly possessions, or gobs of money. Those lead us right back to the same cell we started in.

Also, I want to encourage you to read the additional verse and remember, it's not by our strength we are saved, but by Christ's strength! Hallelujah!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ’œ Additional Reading: โ€œI know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.
โ˜† Revelation 3:8 NLT

โค Prayer: Dear God, thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for keeping me and my family safe. Thank you Jesus for freeing me from the chains of the bondage of sin. I thank you Lord, that you go before me daily. Thank you for protecting my family and I and for showering us in favor and blessings. There is no other God but you and I am so grateful to be considered Your Child. Thank you Jesus, for the Cross. Thank you for the freedom I have in you. May Your will be done God, on earth as it is in Heaven. I love you Jesus and in your name I pray, amen.
