Daily Devotional ~ God Transforms Us
🧡 Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "Made New" by Lincoln Brewster. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
❤ Daily Verse: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
☆ Romans 12:2 NLT
💙 Let's Talk About It: Yesterday we read about how we are a new creation in Christ and our old self is dead and gone. Today, we read that we are to let go of our traditions and customs in order that God might transform us.
Did you catch that? We can't fix ourselves. GOD fixes us. His Holy Spirit fixes us. We must walk in obedience and allow Him to transform us. If we do, THEN we will learn God's will.
I didn't understand this in the beginning of my walk with Christ. However, I understand now. This is the chronological order of major events occurring once I totally surrendered in obedience to God.
• God called me to leave my job about 8 months after rededicating my life to Christ.
• 2 months later, my boyfriend got sick, was on his death bed, and was healed by God
• My boyfriend proposed to me, and we got married
• We started homeschooling our son
• We started this ministry
My life is not the same anymore. Not in ANY regard. Not because of what I did so much as the doors God opened and I simply obeyed and walked through. God spent His time teaching me about the creativity He placed within me and showed me how I was meant to encourage others with His word daily and create works of art that contained His precious word.
He encouraged me to begin digging deeper into His word so that I would be able to offer more to those He placed in my small circle of influence (family & friends) and opened a door for me to attend seminary.
Why am I sharing all this? It serves as an example of how God transforms our life...one small step of obedience at a time. It's not going to be some earth quaking moment. It's going to be many everyday choices that keep us centered in the shadow of the Almighty.
Let's let God's grace do the work and walk in obedience daily so that we may all learn God's will for our lives.
💜 Additional Reading: Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. ☆ 1 John 2:15-17 NLT
💛 Prayer: Father, thank you for today. I praise you Lord, for who you are and all you do. There is no other God but you and I thank you for the opportunity to praise you today. I pray that you would soften our hearts Lord so that we all may be more receptive to tour Word. Thank you for your protection, favor, mercy, and grace. I love you Jesus and in your name I pray, amen.
