Daily Devotional ~ Christ is Supreme
❤ Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "The God Who Stays" by Matthew West. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
🧡 Daily Verse: Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
☆ Colossians 1:15 NLT
💜 Let's Talk About It: Some people say there are many ways to God, but who is God? The Bible says that Christ is God. As we will read, it says that God, in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ (Col. 1:19).
Let that sink in. Christ is God incarnate. Just as with Abraham, God is not alright with letting us have any hand in our covenant with Him. He knows our sinful ways. For millenia, He has seen man's flesh nature destroy that which He built. So, God came to earth and made a covenant with Himself.
Like I said, this isn't the first time He's done something like this. God did the same thing with Abraham, except He put Abraham into a deep sleep while the Angel of the Lord walked through the sacrifices on Abraham's behalf in order to make the covenant. This is actually one of the first glimpses of what kind of covenant we hold with God.
The truth is, we hold no covenant. We do not understand the power and prevalence of our word (or lack thereof), and cannot be trusted to keep a covenant. Because of this, Christ made the covenant with God on our behalf, just as He had walked through the sacrifice on Abraham's behalf.
THIS is why there is no other way to God but through Christ...because He holds the covenant with the Father, God Almighty. Apart from Christ, we are nothing and we have nothing.
💙 Additional Reading: He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
☆ Colossians 1:17-20 NLT
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ☆ Romans 8:38-39 NASB
💛 Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for today, this beautiful day. Your Word says your mercies are new each morning and for that, I am thankful. God you are so good. Thank you for answering my prayers, for healing those I've asked you to heal and blessing those I've asked you to blessed. Thank you, Abba, for your provision and protection. Jesus, thank you for loving me enough to do what I couldn't. You placed my sin on your shoulders and I thank you for taking them to the Cross on my behalf. Lord, search my heart and help me to rid myself of any pride, lust, gluttony, greed, mammon, envy, and anything else that may interfere in our relationship. Jesus Christ, I love you and in your name I pray, amen.
