Daily Devotional ~ Blessed by Obedience
Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "The Same Jesus" by Matt Redman. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!
Daily Verse: Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
☆ Luke 11:28 NLT
Let's Talk About It: Jesus, He was known for flipping the script and trying to break through the barriers that reside within our human psyche.
By the time Jesus was on the scene, people had forgotten about God's Law, even the religious elect; they forgot how to serve.
Jesus keeps it real simple though. When someone blesses Him, He takes the opportunity to teach the importance of serving God. Listen friend, your works won't get you saved, but they will testify to God's glory. That's the reason for putting the Word of God into practice.
It's not for celebrity, to appear smarter, or better than others, and certainly not to earn your way into Heaven. Walking in obedience shines the light of Christ.
Listen friend, you will never be Jesus, but you also aren't called to be. You are called to be His chauffeur. You take His presence with you wherever you go. And allow Him to work through you. We are the lamp. He is the oil. Without the oil a lamp doesn't work.
If you want to look at it from our 21st century view, here's an analogy for you. Christ is the electricity. You are the house. People can flip a switch in a home and wish for light all day, but without electricity, none of the lights will work.
We don't function as we should without Him and we are blessed when we walk in His ways. So, let's chat...what does putting God's word into practice look like to you?
Additional Reading: Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord . Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths. You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully. Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!
☆ Psalms 119:1-8 NLT
Prayer: Father, thank you for this day. Lord, you are the Almighty and I give you praise today. Thank you for blessing me & my family. Thank you for teaching us how to walk in obedience like you Jesus. Lord, there is no one like you. Help me to be your hands and feet; not just so I can be blessed, no, it means more than that, but so that others would come to see you in my life, and begin to believe in the power of your blood and of your work of grace on the Cross. Thank you Lord, for never leaving me nor forsaking me. Abba, I pray your will be done. I love you Jesus and in your name I pray, amen.
