Daily Devotional ~ What You Waiting For?

Person - Daily Devotional ~ What You Waiting For?

Worship: If you'd like to play a song before you begin or while you read, may we recommend "You Make Me Brave" by Bethel Music. Why not try asking alexa, siri, or google to play it for you?!

Daily Verse: You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! ☆2 Timothy 3:1‭-‬5 NLT

Let's Talk About It: What would you do if Christ returned right this moment? Are you confident that you'd be caught up in the clouds? Can you even imagine that moment? Or what that would look like in today's day and age?

The Bible was written during a completely different time and in a completely different culture. Most people don't understand covenant. Many can't keep a secret, let alone an oath (the closest word in English to the Hebrew meaning of covenant).

We like to think we're prepared, but it was the well educated, religious folk (Pharisees/Saducees) that didn't recognize the Messiah. Rather than rejoicing, they were threatened, and they rejected Him. Are you threatened by Jesus? What about when He asks you to walk away from something you want, a person you love (due to death), or a place you love dearly? Do you reject Him?

Do you make up excuses as to why you don't deserve your calling rather than fulfilling it with every ounce of your being? Do you use grace as an excuse to keep sinning? Christ can only shine we we allow Him to shine through us. What are you waiting for?

Additional Reading: “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
☆ Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 NLT

Prayer: Dear Father, you are so magnificent and glorious. I am in awe of your wonder and love. Thank you for such a beautiful day. Thank you for protecting me and for ushering blessings of provision and favor into my life. Lord, I do not deserve salvation, yet you gift it to me anyway. Lord, I do not deserve mercy, but it is the tool by which you teach me to humble myself and Father, thank you for humbling me. Thank you for helping me take a deep look at myself in order that I can crucify that which keeps me from you. Help me to be your hands and feet, Jesus. Help me to wait in expectations with a full lamp, Lord. Thank you for your strength. I love you Jesus and in your name I pray, amen.
