If there is a God, then how do you explain evolution?
Today, we're going to look at a response pertaining to the theory of evolution. Before we begin, I feel the need to restate the disclaimer. The responses I mention to which a Christian can use, are not the only response. It is my intention to share with you one of many possible responses to the skeptic or nonbeliever and examples of how to approach the situation (should you find yourself in a similar situation that we go over in the posts). Hopefully, if you find yourself in one of the scenarios, it will not be so intimidating to which you will abandon your defense.
While out evangelizing, there is a possibility someone may be skeptical towards your presentation and express their nonbelief due to their acceptance of the theory of evolution. Another scenario could be that you are at your place of employment and a conversation came up pertaining to evolution. Regardless of the scenario, the response that I am going to share can be used.
I know what you’re thinking, and yes, there are individuals who still believe we evolved from monkeys. As Christians, this is highly offensive. We know from the Book of Genesis that God created creatures and then man and woman. God the Creator spoke into existence the waters to swarm with living creatures, the skies to be filled with birds of every kind, and land teeming with wildlife of the earth. After He created these, He created mankind according to His likeness (Genesis 1:20-27). Then He commanded man and woman to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it (Genesis 1:28-30). When was the last time you seen or heard of a monkey subduing wildlife on earth or birds of the sky?
According to the theory that we evolved from monkeys, it also suggests to Christians that God is a monkey, since He made Adam and Eve according to His likeness. (These are fighting words. Excellent reason why we need to have the fruit of the Spirit or the conversation may turn into a non-friendly one).
(Skeptic) If there is a God, then how do you explain the fact that we evolved from monkeys?
(Christian response) Well sir, correct me if I’m wrong. You believe in the theory of evolution?
(Skeptic) Yes, it’s a proven fact. It was taught in schools.
(Christian) Surely sir, you understand that according to New Scientist, a well-supported evidence-based theory becomes acceptable until disproved. It never evolves to a fact, and that’s a fact. Through the help of DNA technology, it was proven that Neanderthals were actually humans, not ape-men. And “Ida” who was thought to be the “missing link in human evolution” was recently reclassified as a small tailed, extinct primate and ancestor of Lemurs, not humans.” I, however know of a book that actually explains the truth and disprove even more of the fallacies of the theory of evolution. Are you willing to read the truth for yourself or are you okay with holding on to the theory?
(Skeptic) Wow, I had no idea. Yes, I am willing.
AT THIS POINT, YOU CAN GO BACK INTO YOUR GOSPEL PRESENTATION AND OR TELL THEM ABOUT THE BIBLE APP AND INSTRUCT THEM ON HOW THEY SHOULD READ THE BIBLE (Pray for revelation and wisdom before opening and let them know that it is the ONLY Book that when read, the author is always present). ULTIMATELY, FOLLOW THE PROMPTING OF WHAT TO DO, FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT.
If you see that the curiosity of the skeptic is allowing you to speak longer, you can also take the apologetics further by mentioning the following.
There are at least three limitations of Darwin’s theory. They are the concern of the origin of DNA, the irreducible complexity of the cell, and the paucity of transitional species.
It is said that alligators are apex predators and have not changed much since the beginning of time. They are still existing today. Have you heard of a tyrannosaurus or pterodactyl? They were apex predators of the land and sky. No need to “evolve”. It is your claim that monkeys evolved into humans. The theory of evolution is based on the idea that a species evolves to survive and adapt to their environment; usually for protection from predators or for better survivability from the climate of their region. With this being the case, then why are there still monkeys on earth and not tyrannosaurus or pterodactyl? Truly with the ever-changing climate, we will see a plethora of evolved species on the planet. Sir, there is no evidence ever found to prove the theory that humans evolved from monkeys.
I hope this helps you with defending our Christian faith when asked about the theory of evolution. Thank you for reading and may God, who maintains a storehouse of blessings, bless you with wisdom, a holy boldness to share the Gospel, and strengthen your endurance to finish the race.
